On August 16 and 17, our school team participated in the 15th Inter-Medical University Physiology Quiz held at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In total, 104 colleges and universities participated in the competition, such as British University of Bristol, University of New South Wales, University of Osaka, Japan, National University of Singapore and China Fudan University, Peking Union Medical College, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Second Military Medical University and so on, among which 17 colleges and universities were from China.
The fierce competition lasted for two days, including the written test, oral knockout, quarterfinals, semi-finals and final. After written knockout, 48 teams moved to oral knockout, of which there were only 9 Chinese universities. After oral knockout, 16 teams moved to the quarter-finals, and then the top 6 advanced to semi-finals and the top three to the final. Our students successfully advanced to the quarter-finals, and ultimately won the 7th prize under Shang Feifei’s full guidance, who is a teacher from Department of Basic Medicine of TSMU.
This is the first time that TSMU has participated in this contest, and has won high opinion of the organizer and other teams for their wonderful performance in the contest, which has not only fully demonstrated our students’ solid medical knowledge foundation and good mental outlook, but also further improved our school’s publicity, the influence and the degree of internationalization.
The Inter-Medical University Physiology Quiz has been held for 15 sessions since 2003 and is one of the most influential international competitions in Asia.
